What needed attention
Several back-to-back fixtures in a front restroom were affected by a stoppage upstream of the exterior cleanout.
What the crew did
The exterior cleanout was too deep and offset for the chain-flail tool to make the turn. The crew instead accessed the line through a four-inch roof vent and advanced a chain knocker about 90 feet to clear the obstruction. They then flow-tested the restroom fixtures.
Result and next steps
The affected fixtures drained after clearing. The exact cause of the stoppage remained undetermined. The crew recommended a camera inspection and a two-way cleanout as follow-up options.
