What needed attention
A customer-supplied Grander inline unit had to be installed on a one-inch copper main. Another plumber had been unable to complete the installation. At our first visit, both device fittings developed slow leaks because the unit's thread standard differed from the US fittings being used.
What the crew did
The crew reconnected the main line so water remained available. After speaking with the device representative, they returned with Loctite 55 thread-sealing cord and used it to seal the Grander unit's threaded fittings. They completed the connection with copper fittings and Type L copper pipe.
Result and next steps
They restored water and found the installation functioning without leaks at final inspection. An irrigation bypass proposed earlier was omitted after further evaluation showed it was unnecessary.
